About our frames

Nestled in the heart of Italy, a country renowned for the art of traditional handcrafting, our frames are born. Here, skilled artisans imbue each piece with a touch of Italian elegance. Handcrafted with attention to detail, our eyewear is not just made; they are sculpted from the finest materials, ensuring each frame is as unique as the individual who wears it.

The journey of our eyewear from a mere concept to a tangible piece of art is a testament to the fusion of tradition and innovation. In our state-of-the-art Italian workshop, each frame undergoes a series of intricate processes. Combining age-old artisan techniques with cutting-edge technology, we ensure that every pair of opticals meets the highest standards of quality, durability and unparalleled functionality.

Exceptional craftsmanship

In a world where quality often takes a backseat, our eyewear stands as a beacon of exceptional craftsmanship and attention to details.

The Details

What is acetate?

Originating from plant-based materials, primarily cotton fiber and wood pulp, acetate stands out in the world of plastics.
Acetate frames are known for their strength and ability to retain shape and color over time, making them a durable choice for everyday wear. With hypoallergenic properties acetate is ideal for sensitive skin ensuring comfort and reducing the risk of allergic reactions.

In addition to their durability, acetate frames are surprisingly lightweight, providing a comfortable fit that’s perfect for long-term wear.

Each of these benefits contributes to why acetate frames are not just a choice but an experience in eyewear.

Preparing the perfect acetate
  • We begin by carefully trimming acetate sheets to ensure they’re smooth and free of irregular edges.
  • Next, we cut the acetate into strips of equal size, ensuring uniformity in dimensions.
  • These strips are then passed through a grinding machine to achieve a consistent thickness along their entire length.
Creating the front frames
  • The equal-sized strips are transformed into front frames through several meticulous steps.
  • First, the strips are cut into suitable-sized plates, ready for the manufacturing process.
  • Smaller plates are prepared for the splicing process, ensuring precise assembly.
  • To enhance durability and stability, the front plates undergo a drying process in ovens with controlled temperature and humidity.
  • Loaded into Computer Numerical Control (CNC) milling machines, the glued plates are meticulously shaped into the desired frame design.
  • CNC milling machines are equipped with necessary tools and programmed with specific milling programs tailored to each model.
  • Once milled, the fronts are carefully inspected, excess material is removed, burrs are eliminated, and any surface imperfections are addressed manually.
  • To refine the surface further, the fronts are sprayed with acetone before entering the tumbling stages.
  • The tumbling process involves multiple stages, where the fronts are manually loaded into tumbling machines, completing each stage before unloading. This process smoothens the surface and enhances the overall finish.
  • After tumbling, the fronts are loaded into a machine with a digital tester, where a milling tool precisely removes material to create the hinge slot.
  • Following this, the fronts are loaded onto fixtures for hinge insertion, ensuring precise alignment with the temples.
  • Any excess material on the lug area of the fronts is carefully trimmed using a saw to ensure proper alignment with the temples.
Crafting the temples
  • The process for crafting the temples, or arms of the eyewear, begins by loading the strips into a CNC machine, which cuts the outer shape of the temples with precision.
  • After shaping, any excess material is removed, and surface imperfections are addressed manually to ensure a smooth finish.
  • Similar to the front frames, the temples undergo multiple tumbling stages to refine the surface and enhance the overall appearance.
  • A hinge shooting machine is then set up with the necessary molds and parameters for the specific model.
  • The tumbled temples are loaded individually into the shooting machine, along with metal cores, which are inserted into the acetate temples to enhance durability and stability.
  • The shot temples are thoroughly inspected to ensure there are no surface defects on the acetate.
  • Protective plastic caps are applied to the hinges of the shot temples to safeguard them during subsequent processes.
  • After further tumbling stages, the plastic protective caps are removed from the temples.
  • Excess material on the temple ends is trimmed using a saw to ensure proper alignment with the fronts.
Bringing it all together
  • With both the front frames and temples crafted to perfection, they are expertly assembled using screws and manual or electric screwdrivers to ensure stability and longevity.
  • The assembled frames undergo a meticulous hand-polishing process, where artisans apply different wax compounds on cloth wheels through three polishing stages, resulting in a lustrous finish.
  • Each piece is marked with our signature using UV and CO2 laser etching machines, adding a personalized touch.
  • Lenses are edged to fit each individual front frame using calibrated cutting techniques, ensuring a perfect fit.
  • The edged lenses are then mounted onto each front frame.
  • Before finalizing the eyewear, adjustments are made to ensure a proper fit, and thorough quality control checks are conducted to maintain our high standards.

Throughout every step of the manufacturing process, from meticulous crafting to stringent quality control measures, we pour our passion and expertise into creating eyewear that not only meets but exceeds your expectations.
